About

I'm a freelance writer and editor with 25 years' experience in journalism. After graduating from Vassar and Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism, I started my career at a small-town newspaper in South Carolina before working at the Associated Press, Time Magazine and other publications. My work appears regularly in The New York Times’ Style section, and I have also written for The Washington Post and HuffPost. I spent 15 years at Princeton University, where I was associate editor of the alumni magazine. I write frequently for alumni magazines, and I also specialize in writing about contemporary jewelry.

My work has been published in alumni publications at many colleges and universities, including Princeton, Vassar, Northwestern, Columbia, Colgate and Barnard. I have written about all kinds of subjects, including profiles of prominent figures in theater, literature, architecture and fashion. I have covered the work of scholars in numerous fields, including sociology, economics, anthropology, psychology and international affairs.
